Biography

Short Biography:

Anne Finch was born Anne Kingsmill, a Hampshire family, in April 1661. Her father died a few months later and her mother died when she was 5 or 6 years old. Her mother remarried Sir Thomas Ogle and they had one child from this new marriage, Dorothy; her two other siblings included one brother William and one sister Bridget. Anne’s mother died in 1664 leaving all three children with Sir Ogle. Not much is known about Anne’s childhood, until at the age of 22 she was appointed a maid of honor of Mary of Modena. One year later, in May of 1684, Anne married Colonel Heneage Finch. She died in August of 1720.
