The Early Modern Center (EMC) is excited to announce that UCSB will host the annual meeting of WSECS. All talks and panels of this two-day conference event are open to the university community. UCSB is pleased to host the annual conference WSECS, an interdisciplinary body of scholars of the period 1660 to 1815. This year’s theme of “Eighteenth-Century Science(s)” considers the development, expansion, and contestation of Enlightenment science, as well as the intersection of eighteenth-century studies with new critical methodologies such as cognitive literary studies and the digital humanities. This conference is cosponsored by the Departments of English, French & Italian, History, History of Art and Architecture, Philosophy, and Spanish & Portuguese, the Early Modern Center, the College of Letters and Science, and the Interdisciplinary Humanities Center.
